Based in the world class sea conditions of the Orkney Islands, Scotland, The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) Ltd is the world’s first and only accredited, grid-connected test centre for full-scale wave and tidal devices.  Attracting developers from around the globe, to date more devices have been tested at EMEC than any other single site in the world.

Eileen joined EMEC in August 2009 and has responsibility for managing contracts with developers.  She is the first point of contact for prospective clients and works with them from initial contact through to arrival on site.  In her time at EMEC, she has worked with 18 different wave and tidal technology companies at EMEC’s test sites.

Eileen is also responsible for marketing EMEC’s services, as well as handling all public relations and media enquiries.  The Centre has become a focal point for the emerging marine renewables industry as Orkney has become home to some of the most innovative marine energy technologies currently in development.

Prior to joining EMEC, Eileen studied Law and worked for Glasgow Graduate Law School.  She also spent 5 years working for Orkney Islands Council as a Policy Advisor.

Eileen is particularly keen on promoting the role of marine renewable energy in creating sustainable communities.  Born in Orkney, she recognises the abundance of marine energy available for harvesting, and is happy to see first-hand the positive impact marine renewables is having as the latest in a long line of pioneering maritime industries to emerge from the Northern Isles.
